Gandhinagar, March 20, 2026:
In a major boost to public transport, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel flagged off 182 new GSRTC buses, aiming to strengthen connectivity across all assembly constituencies in the state.

One Bus for Every Constituency

The newly introduced buses have been deployed with a unique approach, one bus allocated to each of Gujarat’s 182 assembly constituencies, ensuring wider and more balanced transport coverage.

This initiative is expected to improve accessibility, especially in regions where bus frequency and availability have been limited.

Focus on Rural & Remote Connectivity

The expansion is designed to enhance transport services in:

  • Rural and interior areas
  • Semi-urban regions
  • Previously underserved routes

Officials said the move will help bridge connectivity gaps and provide reliable travel options for daily commuters.

Strengthening Public Transport Network

The buses are part of a broader effort to modernize and expand the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) fleet.

GSRTC plays a key role in connecting cities, towns, and villages not only within Gujarat but also with neighboring states.

The addition of new buses is expected to:

  • Increase service frequency
  • Reduce waiting time for passengers
  • Improve overall travel convenience

Government’s Focus on Mobility

During the launch, the state leadership emphasized the importance of accessible and efficient public transport for economic growth and regional development.

The initiative aligns with ongoing efforts to upgrade infrastructure and ensure better mobility for citizens across Gujarat.

What This Means for Travelers

For passengers and tourists:

  • Better bus connectivity across the state
  • Easier access to remote destinations
  • More reliable and frequent services
